Answer to a question about what is the best technique to become enlightened, or gain the pure seeing. The question was if meditation, or self inquiery was more effective. Or if ther vere nothing to do to make the shift happen.

My answer:

In absolute terms there is nothing we can do to make the shift of consciousness come around. It either happens or it does´nt. I could tell you or someone else to “give up” or to “see things just as they are”. Any way or description is the same when it actually take place.
To put it simple, since this is the simplest thing – I would still say this:
put your full trust, in what you dont know anything about.
Thats it.
The term for describing the putting of the total trust in the unknown is commonly the term (having) “Faith”…
The meaning of having faith, is the opposite of “believing” or having strong belief.
Faith, you hav in the unknown. Faith is synonymous with taking full responsibility, for ones life. Not…not trusting in anyone.
Being IT. With no questions left. Just accepting the not knowing and accepting everything as it is. Even acceting that we know what we know (or seem to) and we dont know what we dont know.
What hapens then is that knowing and not knowing becomes the same thing.
And since we dont wonder about anything, we can see everything immediately and clear. No thoughts are there anymore to disturb the perception.
But the perception is that of “noone” or “the beeingness itself, not separate from anything, and with no sense of beeing an “I” or experiencing.
Still we can , I can (I use the word I) tell a story about it. Its a story that is not true, and there is neither an “I” telling the story or believing it. Still the story is told…
So, even if there is nothing “you” can do to make it happen, It is happening, and the circumstances surrounding you putting this question and me answering it, is what really happens.
These circumstances is the Karma – and Karma is a conceptual word for describing the two concepts intention and effect.
Your intention is not something you can accieve, and neither is the effect in this case, namely “my answear”.
But you did put the question and I answered it.
So, maybe a good advice is to relax, stop searching, and start finding.
UG Krishnamurti said: ” One thing I know, and that is that as long as we are searching for happieness, we will not find it”. Free interpretation of his words though..
I used to escape my troubles, by beeing in the “now”. Since I did that many times every day, I think maybe it helped me to come closer to just beeing. Maybe not.
Meditation is probably a good thing to do, though even if it does not make us enlightened it will help us find the harmony to certain exstent.
Surrender, or not believing ones own thoughts, is two meditations that I can recommend doing all the time, several months in a row.
Having faith, is another, and the same.
I read a few things by Jiddu Krishnamurti about self inquiery. It helped me to take my own reflections upon my own thoughts seriously. And maybe that helped me as well.
To drop it.
To stop becoming.
To have faith.
To see – what is.
What is actually there/here/everywhere.
It doesnt look very profound at first.
It looks like nothing.
But its the seeing of things as they are, that is the big change.
Thoughts will stop. Really… they will stop.
Some thoughts will come but you will see, that the thoughts are not your, or you. Its just. thoughts.
So, who are You? The questin that will make you see. You are nothing that you can put into some sort of conceptiual description.
You are the beeing of whatever you are. Namely the beeingness itself.
Not apart from anything.
Best whishes

Allt du gör förändrar världen för all framtid.

Du är fri – You are free

Möt mig i vinden.

There is no teaching

Teaching comes out of belief in and extra conditioned limited attention to our form and belief in the importance in this form.

Enlightenment is just a word that points to the natural state where such a word, or any teaching is non existing. Or, rather, there is teachings, and there is concepts of wind and sun. But the sun and the sunshine doesnt put it self intowriting. Nor beliefs in descriptions based on random picking of false descriptors.

Everything just is.

No masters, no states, no one lacking insight or knowledge. There is no such.

My body took a walk…

I am just sitting here.

A few hours ago I took a walk. I was sitting on the shoulders of my body, watching it travel through universe. At the moment I (and my body) was crossing a bridge in central Stockholm close to the Central Station.

I saw how my body was walking and slowly moving through universe as it seamed. But in what direction, that was impossible to say. There are no directions, or, if we say there are, then there is all directions simultaneously.

The expansion of the universe, the orbid of the earth. The turning of the milky way, the earths motion around its own axis. And me crossing that bridge.

Who knows in what direction my so called body was moving.

And the motion of the neutrons and atoms inside the body itself. Atoms temporarily glued together by whatever force. I dont know much about physics. And that is ok.

I know I dont know and never will know.

I have always known this. But this knowing used to scare my when I was younger. Everyone else seamed to know who they were. The pretense was immaculate.

Now it doesnt scare me anymore. I sometimes long for someone to talk to. Someone who see the world as I do. But there is no one.

Its a lonely business, not existing 🙂

And not even feeling lonely, just seeing the potential lonelyness. But since there is no mind and no body, there is no mind meeting the body and therefore no emotions. And still sometimes there is vague feelings. But then there is not belief in those feelings, and therefore they don grew to all mighty proportions. Just waves, on the ocean.

The ocean that is not me. Just some sort of ocean of all there is…

Thank you for existing fellow bloggers. You offer some comfort.

I am just sitting here.

It appears as if I am.

I dont know anything.

You are perfect.

You may not know this.

But you are perfect already.

You don’t have to change.

You only have to stop becoming – to be happy for all time to come.

The hardest thing to believe. That you are ok.

You tell yourself every day, every minute, that you can do better, be better, be more beautiful, nicer, or loose some weight.

Be a better parent. A better lover. Better in bed.

You dont have to change.

See this.

And that will be the only change necessary.

After accepting yourself, you will accept most people around you. And they can be at their best. When you dont judge them like you judge yourself.

Tell them this:

“You are perfect.”

And watch their reaction.

They will resist, and insinuate that you are not perfect either.

Funny. 🙂

Insist. You are perfect, and so are they.

This is the truth.

I promise.

Something you dont know about your self.

You are perfect.

You dont have to change,

You can stop adapting now, and stop becoming.

You are already it. Everyone are, but few recognize this.

After realizing this, people may tell you you are not it. Still.

But that simply isn’t true.

The only thing that wasn’t you, was the thing you had to become, but never succeeded to become.

The dream.

Wasn’t perfect.

Wasn’t you.

Welcome home. You are home now.

Where you can rest in your self.

Ajay:

Many Thanks for the encouragement ! I shall try the pointers that you have indicated.
As for ‘longer posts’ it is a tendency to write longer posts, till I am satisfied that the message that had to be conveyed has been ‘appropriately posted. So thanks for the patience as well. 🙂
As for “what is seen without an idea of what it is” – I guess nothing ! for the moment the ‘thing’ is seen, it is recognised instantly (prior knowledge). Perhaps education has somewhat destroyed the ability to ‘ponder and wonder’ – we know the ‘labels’ associated with just about everything and that is perhaps ‘what you are hinting/pointing at’ – to look at something without labels.
I can only pray that it happens ( to see without labels) here as well.
AND I do long to say “Hi to You” someday…sometime – as I quote you in one of your posts …..”want to talk to you. The true selves. Behind the selves. Not the projections, the illusions, the loop of thoughts and knowledge. The ones that doesnt know. Please say hi”

Me:

Hi Ajay.
If you ever come to sweden I would gladly talk to you about these matters.
But until then, you should focus inwards. This is not impossible. Its the easiest thing in the world.
Look at something. Anything. The road. The people running through a square, a tree. Anything.
Just look, and fully realize that “THIS IS IT”
This, what you see, is all there is.

Stop prayng or longing or whishing for this to happen. Just trust me (and actually yourself) trust your feeling that this can be seen. Because it can.
Now.
Not tomorrow or one minute ago. Always do this practice right NOW.
Just sit. (or walk)
And watch.
See, that this happens without you.
Now turn your head around, and watch behind you.
Reality was there too, wasnt it?
Even though you didnt look at it.
It does not depend on you.
It is – anyway
And always will be.
That – which is.
That is it. This what you see, is it.

Do this NOW and dont listen to ANY thought. Just look and think “This is it”
And turn your head around.
You will see it, I promise.

I will list some of the most common misunderstandings about the nature of things, and if you want me to I can explain why it is so. Here are a few assumptions I frequently encounter – assumptions that Is NOT true, often the reality is quite the opposite, but how that can be the case needs to be explained to most people: The faulty assumptions are listed below;

  1. Love is the goal (to strive for, to find)
  2. There must be a purpose with enlightenment/liberation
  3. There must be a way to use liberation and the insights from it, to do good.
  4. Not to use these insights is egoistic.
  5. Bliss is the natural state after enlightenment.
  6. Enlightened people are humble. Humbleness is a virtue in all situations.
  7. A critical attitude towards the sayings of others is a sign of ego.
  8. A good thing is to create a loving community, in which we let love and humbleness flourish. This can not be bad.
  9. You have to pay attention to your ego, even after enlightenment.
  10. Creativity is good.
  11. After enlightenment we can reach and fulfill our dreams.
  12. We all have dreams.
  13. We all have needs.
  14. We all have fears.
  15. After enlightenment you still feel fear, anger, sorrow, melancholia, restlessness, loneliness etc.
  16. Moral will increase after enlightenment.
  17. Enlightenment is the goal.
  18. Enlightenment is the beginning of a journey.
  19. Enlightenment will make you happy.
  20. You will be reborn with the possibility to remember this life.
  21. Death is something to fear.
  22. Death is just a few steps away.
  23. It is impossible to love everyone equally.
  24. You have friends that you love more then others even after enlightenment.
  25. You have memory after enlightenment.
  26. You have lust after enlightenment.
  27. You have a will after enlightenment.
  28. You say things after enlightenment.
  29. You have an opinion after enlightenment.
  30. You can change things after enlightenment.
  31. It is an illusion, that there are illusions, it is important to see that the illusions are also true.
  32. You have to meditate to be liberated.
  33. You have to meditate.
  34. You are your body.
  35. You are the “I am”
  36. Pain can not be transcended, it is part of the nervous system.
  37. Mental illness can not be transcended.
  38. Addictions can not be transcended.
  39. You will still have some prejudice after enlightenment
  40. There are answers and questions
  41. There are right and wrong
  42. You exist
  43. There is a God
  44. There is no God
  45. Man is evil in his nature
  46. There is something such as evil
  47. You can never experience being one with all
  48. Living life is the most important thing
  49. Being happy is important
  50. There is no way a total transcendation can happen
  51. Belief is something good
  52. Belief in god is the same thing as faith.
  53. Someone else can help you to get liberated.
  54. You can get liberated.
  55. After liberation your consciousness will vanish, and all there is will vanish.
  56. Its harder for bad people to get liberated than for good people.
  57. Mystical experiences are important.
  58. You will not have superpowers after enlightenment.
  59. You will have all the superpowers of Buddha after enlightenment.
  60. You have to make a living.
  61. You have to go to work.
  62. You have to – anything.
  63. Being kind is good in every situation.
  64. Human beings is the only animal that can be enlightened.
  65. Following religion will take you to heaven.
  66. God is apart from us.

So to be clear about it: these statements is NOT TRUE.

I would gladly explain how that is the case if someone finds interest in it.

About the illusion of being an illusion. Egos most treasured argument.

I come across this argument all the time… and its an obstacle on the no-path from illusion. My question to you is: since you dont know anything, why do you pretend to know. No-one is ever going to verify your guessing game, and you create suffering non-stop around you, performing this act. Is that your intention?

This is the egos last life line. Let all life lines go, before telling others anything. Keep quiet until you have seen the truth on first hand. Thats my advice.

The persons who like this argument appears to be very intelligent. But intelligence under the total influence of the ego is really nothing more than a very relative ability to sort things out in the total chaos of thoughts and beliefs that is the essence of a mind tortured “individual.”

The argument may sound like this:

There is no this or that, because they are both illusions .

The hen wasnt there before the egg because they are both illusions.

There are no enlightenment, because the talk about there beeing an illusion is also an illusion.

To begin with, I must say this, without inquiring further into it:

There is something called enlightenment, but that is just a phase. It will pass. The fact that you were trapped in illusion, and just left this illusion – verifies the statement that the enlightenment didnt really happen. Illusion just stopped happening. So the enlightenment is a non-event. A concept… and therefore also an illusion-  if seen as an event.

But people are eager to put their nose into this “debate” even though they dont know what the premiss is. They dont know anything. There is no debate. There is no room for opinions. There is only one premiss, and, either you know this premiss or not.

There can never be any discussion. Just false assumptions. To know the premiss you HAVE TO have experienced this answer. All other kind of knowledge is based upon assumptions. No one ever knew something beeing true before experiencing this first handed. First when a truth is experienced we know that we know. Right!?

So. Illusion… what is illusion? It is… something not being what it appears to be. It is not a thing. Not matter. Not life. Nothing. It is not even nothing. It is only a false assumption. Nothing to give life to.

By saying that this and that, is illusion, many people will belive that the illusion is something.  Its not.

There is only “what is”. And all else is illusion.

You may say “that what is” or “this, what is” or “all which is and isnt.” It doesnt matter.

What matters is that you see that there is “something” which what you tend to call “you” are and are surrounded by and in fact united with.

Then there is thoughts. Thoughts have the same importance as ripples on the ocean, on wind passing through the trees. They are… but we give them huge importance and create our whole perception of the universe out of them. Thats a mistake. Thats “the” mistake.

The mind can not see ” what is”.

Mind assumes, based on an assumption, based on assumption, in all eternity…

And says that we are an illusion of an illusion of an illusion…. in all eternity…

Mind can not see “what is”. Without labeling, or seeing the concepts that we, as humans have learned.

The only thing that can ever happen (regarding “enlightenment”) is that you see through your own beliefs and assumptions and conceptual images that you project on everything.

You see that this “is not” (we would say its an illusion). It IS NOT.

Then you see and accept “what is”.

You accept the fact you dont know anything.

Then you see “what is”. And then you know this. And ONLY this. What you see… without words, concepts or even a feeling.

No bliss. Nothing.

This “what you know” now, has no limits. So you see/know everything.

So, you who does not know the premiss, please keep quiet. You are doing harm on “all there is”, including the ones you believe yourself to love. Really, before seeing what is, the only act you can perform is exploitation.

Regards – Avaloki
