Answer to a question about what is the best technique to become enlightened, or gain the pure seeing. The question was if meditation, or self inquiery was more effective. Or if ther vere nothing to do to make the shift happen.
In absolute terms there is nothing we can do to make the shift of consciousness come around. It either happens or it does´nt. I could tell you or someone else to “give up” or to “see things just as they are”. Any way or description is the same when it actually take place.
To put it simple, since this is the simplest thing – I would still say this:
put your full trust, in what you dont know anything about.
The term for describing the putting of the total trust in the unknown is commonly the term (having) “Faith”…
The meaning of having faith, is the opposite of “believing” or having strong belief.
Faith, you hav in the unknown. Faith is synonymous with taking full responsibility, for ones life. Not…not trusting in anyone.
Being IT. With no questions left. Just accepting the not knowing and accepting everything as it is. Even acceting that we know what we know (or seem to) and we dont know what we dont know.
What hapens then is that knowing and not knowing becomes the same thing.
And since we dont wonder about anything, we can see everything immediately and clear. No thoughts are there anymore to disturb the perception.
But the perception is that of “noone” or “the beeingness itself, not separate from anything, and with no sense of beeing an “I” or experiencing.
Still we can , I can (I use the word I) tell a story about it. Its a story that is not true, and there is neither an “I” telling the story or believing it. Still the story is told…
So, even if there is nothing “you” can do to make it happen, It is happening, and the circumstances surrounding you putting this question and me answering it, is what really happens.
These circumstances is the Karma – and Karma is a conceptual word for describing the two concepts intention and effect.
Your intention is not something you can accieve, and neither is the effect in this case, namely “my answear”.
But you did put the question and I answered it.
So, maybe a good advice is to relax, stop searching, and start finding.
UG Krishnamurti said: ” One thing I know, and that is that as long as we are searching for happieness, we will not find it”. Free interpretation of his words though..
I used to escape my troubles, by beeing in the “now”. Since I did that many times every day, I think maybe it helped me to come closer to just beeing. Maybe not.
Meditation is probably a good thing to do, though even if it does not make us enlightened it will help us find the harmony to certain exstent.
Surrender, or not believing ones own thoughts, is two meditations that I can recommend doing all the time, several months in a row.
Having faith, is another, and the same.
I read a few things by Jiddu Krishnamurti about self inquiery. It helped me to take my own reflections upon my own thoughts seriously. And maybe that helped me as well.
To drop it.
To stop becoming.
To have faith.
To see – what is.
What is actually there/here/everywhere.
It doesnt look very profound at first.
It looks like nothing.
But its the seeing of things as they are, that is the big change.
Thoughts will stop. Really… they will stop.
Some thoughts will come but you will see, that the thoughts are not your, or you. Its just. thoughts.
So, who are You? The questin that will make you see. You are nothing that you can put into some sort of conceptiual description.
You are the beeing of whatever you are. Namely the beeingness itself.
Not apart from anything.
Decide…. Decide now…. whether you are the object seen by what you referre to as “I”. Or if you are the subject, that calls itself “I”.
Before the naming… There is objectifying.
Even saying I am what I am, is a lie.
You are not even the beeingness.
But what is a verb to everything, not separate from anything?

I am not important.

I dont know anything. Nothing I know. I dont know one single fact or thing. I have nothing to give.

Life… It can be lived. I can live. I dont know this. I assume. It appears like it… that I can live and see for a while.
I dont exist as any thought. I am when self is not. I can not teach. We can share. Share our lives. Life can teach me humility. In the true sense of the word. Without anyone being humble.

I am just sitting here.
A few hours ago I took a walk. I was sitting on the shoulders of my body, watching it travel through universe. At the moment I (and my body) was crossing a bridge in central Stockholm close to the Central Station.
I saw how my body was walking and slowly moving through universe as it seamed. But in what direction, that was impossible to say. There are no directions, or, if we say there are, then there is all directions simultaneously.
The expansion of the universe, the orbid of the earth. The turning of the milky way, the earths motion around its own axis. And me crossing that bridge.
Who knows in what direction my so called body was moving.
And the motion of the neutrons and atoms inside the body itself. Atoms temporarily glued together by whatever force. I dont know much about physics. And that is ok.
I know I dont know and never will know.
I have always known this. But this knowing used to scare my when I was younger. Everyone else seamed to know who they were. The pretense was immaculate.
Now it doesnt scare me anymore. I sometimes long for someone to talk to. Someone who see the world as I do. But there is no one.
Its a lonely business, not existing 🙂
And not even feeling lonely, just seeing the potential lonelyness. But since there is no mind and no body, there is no mind meeting the body and therefore no emotions. And still sometimes there is vague feelings. But then there is not belief in those feelings, and therefore they don grew to all mighty proportions. Just waves, on the ocean.
The ocean that is not me. Just some sort of ocean of all there is…

When one have seen “what is”… there is no doubt about it. Dont let anyone make you believe anything else. There are people out there who make have an agenda, hidden even from them self. They may have been through the process of enlightenment or whatever one may want to call it. Its just a word for the undescribable.
To see “what is”, means to see that you are allready “that”. But obviously you havent seen that properly before.
You allways were that. But you was in illusion of beeing someone. This illusion is not a problem for those who dont feel trapped by it. But this identification with mind actually creates suffering all around you. You are allready “that”. There is nothing to become.
When seeing this, one no longer is persistent in an argument. One does not have an opinion founded on words spoken or written. One does not believe in ones own words. So, consequenttly, there is no one to listen to or to trust.
You can only trust in your own experience once you have had it. And if you have had it, you no longer ask questions. If you ask questions after “seeing What is” you no longer ask questions in order to know.
“seeing what is” means the end of the need to know, or the end to have affirmation.
If you need affirmation, you are not free.
If you still have questions you are not free.
To the player, I want to say, Its a game, I know, but remember, you are just a card, and that by choise.

You may not know this.

The hardest thing to believe. That you are ok.
You tell yourself every day, every minute, that you can do better, be better, be more beautiful, nicer, or loose some weight.
Be a better parent. A better lover. Better in bed.
You dont have to change.
And that will be the only change necessary.
After accepting yourself, you will accept most people around you. And they can be at their best. When you dont judge them like you judge yourself.
Tell them this:
“You are perfect.”
And watch their reaction.
They will resist, and insinuate that you are not perfect either.
Insist. You are perfect, and so are they.
This is the truth.

How can I ever Thank You for your ‘care n concern’. Trying my best to follow your leads.
Two things mainly, I wanted to mention.
One, that while driving, or at home, I have started mentally querying the objects that I see. The Query (internal/mental) is of the form “Is it a car/wall/bed ? etc etc that I perveive it to be OR is there something more to it (car/wall/bed etc) than my mere perception of it. At the same time it sounds artificial because the knowledge that is there about the object (kind of) tells me “Is it really going to change my knowledge about the object ? ” To this the mental answer is – ‘I don’t know’ and that is what I keep in mind.
Since during the day time while in office, there is little time to do this exercise, so only while taking a walk after Lunch, going to wash room etc do I happen to ‘Ask myself’ if there is more to these objects than what I pervceive them to be , and also “All there is is THIS, THIS IS IT’.
Even at a small party yesterday ( my visits are once in three/four months) I tried to see the scenarios being a little apart – obviously nothing happened , but am trying to keep up the practice.
Two, that although I am keeping up the practice of ‘All there is is THIS, THIS IS IT’, it seems that the ‘quititude’ or the ‘silence’ that happens within or rather the ‘quititude/silence’ within gets more obvious when I happen to see the ‘Trees’ on the road rather than ‘things that are moving’. Stupid it might sound, but just thought to share
Not to mention, ‘Not to believe in thoughts’ practice also. Although there are few moments where I get along with the thought, but the coming back is much quicker ( no matter how interesting the thought is) because of this reminder.

It is hard to explain. Impossible actually. But, the point is, if this happens, it will change your life on every part. You have to be strong enough to take this. If you fall back into believing, too soon, I cant really tell what consequences there will be.
Probably a longing for this seeing.
Probably a doubt in what you perceive, without a clear seeing of what is.
So take it easy. Don’t stress anything.
It will happen if you are ready.
It cant hurt to loosen up the believes though. See this as a mindfulness retreat.
You will become more at ease by seeing this. By not believing your thoughts. It is a good thing. No doubt.
The reasons I tell about this is because, if it happens, the seeing, you may feel alone and lost. There is no need for that. If it happens, then go back and read all my posts from the beginning and you will recognize your own experience and you will find faith in that. If you are not strong enough to carry the new perspective, you will question things. And mind will get right back in place.
Adyashanti tells (in a few audio files) about the time after enlightenment so I can recommend him for that purpose.
What is so funny – is, that we cant see “the world as it is”. Not even our own perception of it (with our eyes, ears, skin etc).
Because, we can not see anything without labeling it.
We are in a sense blind.
It is there. Now.
But we cant see “nothing”, or to explain further – we cant see what is there, open to see, but without our human concepts attached to it.
We are humans.
Humans have minds that remember things with words.
Words are images.
Words is ideas.
If I say:
A criminal. With ugly clothes.
Your mind instantly make a picture. An image.
You may see a bank robber in lewis jeans.
I may see a wall street broker in a not to expensive jacket (or an expensive jacket but with no ability to carry it).
Someone else may see a child soldier in an unusual kind of uniform.
We may see a crack head in loose fit jeans almost showing his behind.
Depending on our context we think a criminal is something different.
In russia it used to be a right wing sympathizer.
In USA it may have been a leftie, during the Jimmy Carter era.
Same phenomena, same individual, different concepts, differing opinions on same thing/person.
He is non of these conscepts. He is.
What is he?
That which you can see without conscepts/ideas.
If I see an image of a guru, depending on my preferences I may think “fake” or “enlightened”.
Truth is this guru is neither. He is nothing that is relative.
He is what he is.
Can you see him without this concept. Then you see he is not a guru. You are the only guru there is. Thats how “gurus” (should) work.
Can we see a woman or a man without presuming she/he is a woman/man and either atractive/not attractive, tall/short, smart/stupid, kind, rude, loveable, pain in the ass.
He/she is neither. We all just “are”.
The “are-ness” or “is-ness”…
It is there to see.
A car? What is it?
A lawn. What is a lawn?
Grass? Straws of plants called grass. One organism? Many? One interconnected organism made out of many?
Chlorophyll? Light from the sun reflecting on a vegetative material?
In close up… cells?
Or maybe we see it as part of a real estate.
Where does the lawn end?
By the forest? By the end of they land you own your self?
What is a forest? Big flowers? Trees?
What is trees?
Trees are not trees and not flowers. They are just what they are. Not separate from the air surrounding them.
Loosen up all borders.
Your own borders.
Are you your fingers.
Are you the drink in your stomach?
When does the drink become you?
When does it end beeing you?
What are you really?
What is really you. If not your body.
And if not your thoughts?
How does a bird or a rat or a bug… how does a bug perceive a car?
When Columbus came to America, the Indians could not see the ships.
Why couldn’t the Indians see the ships?
They had no concepts.
See ships like the Indians saw them.
Dont pay attention to anything.
Take a walk. Feel the ground (again) under your feet. See “what is” in front of you. Above you. Behind you. Allow everything. See your thoughts. Say: aha, it looks like I want to think about this. And then drop it. See it, let it go. Allow it. Allow everything. Allow every thought.
All of them.
Allow every feeling. If you meet someone you don’t like, think: aha, I resent this person, I feel disgusted by him. Enjoy seeing this. Enjoy seeing your own feelings. Don’t reject, don’t cling.
See your own labeling and thoughts.
See the “ground”.
How long has it been? The ground… What was it hundred years ago? Was the gravel a ridge? Was the bitumen a well in the desert?
Is it separate now? Or joined? What os joined? United? What is that.
You are always “what is”, you may just not see it yet.
Everything is just what it is.
Turn around. (actually do this – turn around) Is the world there as well. Without you seeing it? How come?
How come? How can it be there without you?
Ponder on that.
Don’t look. Just see.
